How does digital to physical translation alter data?
The physical-digital interface is fundamentally a matter of point-to-point relations. Coordinates and their interrelations as a dataset are the basis by which we can manipulate the design. However, the physical manifestation of the data often carries repercussions: new qualities emerge with the possibility of altering the original data.

Linetype Scripting A line is the most direct course between two points in space. However, infinitely many variations exist to interpret that course through space. As the complexity increases, the original line becomes obfuscated in the new pattern.

A light fixed to the end effector allows long exposure photography to trace the robot’s movement through space.

Continuous versus Discrete
Diffusion-limited aggregation simulations produce fractal patterns. The same script is run twice, but the addition of a blinking light rather than constant light source adds an additional layer to the pattern.

Camera Orientation
From different perspectives, the camera captures different distributions of light, producing different readings of the same data.
