How much information do you need to communicate to place a brick?

Paradoxically, most modern architects use digital tools to prepare analog drawings. That is, the location of the brick in digital space is a piece of information that we possess, but in order to communicate, we flatten the information into series of 2D drawings that need to be reinterpreted by the builder on site. Hypothetically, if the mason could interpret the digital coordinates of the brick, we could skip the drawings entirely.
